The Applications of Silicon Carbide

Silicon carbide is characterized by high hardness, good thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion coefficient, stability chemical, good wear resistance, brittle. So silicon cabide can be wildly used in many fileds.

1. Abrasives

Mainly used for the production like grinding wheels, sandpaper, belt, whetstone, grinding blocks, grinding, polishing paste and monocrystalline silicon and polycrystalline silicon of photovoltaic products ,grinding and polishing of piezoelectric crystalsin  in electronics industries   .

2. Wear-resistant, Fire-resistant and Corrosion-resistant Materials

Due to corrosion-resistant, high temperature resistance, high strength, good thermal conductivity, impact resistance and other characteristics, Silicon carbide can be used for  smelting furnace lining, high temperature furnace components, silicon carbide plate, liner, support, sagger, carbide silica crucible,etc.

3. Steel

silicon carbide is characteristic with corrosion resistance, thermal shock resistance,wear resistance, good thermal conductivity,  which make it wildly used in furnace lining.

4. Ceramic

With the character of thermal conductivity, heat radiation, high  fever strength, black silicon carbide can be used for manufacturing sheet kiln, it not only reducing capacity, but also increasing the installed capacity of the furnace and product quality, shortening the production cycle.It is ideal indirect materials for ceramic  baked glazed sintering  .

5. Chemical

Silicon carbide can be used as a modifier for steelmaking and deoxidizer for casting iron, can be used as raw material for the manufacture of silicon tetrachloride, it is the main raw material of silicone industry. And compared with the original process, the physical and chemical properties of silicon carbide is more stable,deoxidation effect is better. It has a different meaning in shortening deoxidation time ,saving energy , improving steel-making efficiency, improve the quality of steel, reduce environmental pollution, improve overall economic efficiency of furnace.
